Recurring Saturday Night Live characters and sketches introduced in 1989–1990 (Season 15):

- Lank Thompson — Mike Myers plays a very handsome man who sells videos teaching men to look and act more handsome. Debuted October 21, 1989. He appeared in three sketches.

- The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson parody — Dana Carvey as Johnny Carson and Phil Hartman as Ed McMahon. Debuted in late 1989.

- An effeminate Dana Carvey character who must convince others that he is not gay. Debuted November 11, 1989.

- A Jon Lovitz character with a high-pitched nasal voice who does annoying things in front of Weekend Update’s Dennis Miller; usually ends sketches in a calm, refined tone (for example, “You don’t have to yell” or “I love you”). Debuted November 11, 1989.

- Jon Lovitz as a Jewish variation of Santa Claus. Debuted December 16, 1989.

- Christopher Walken as a self-imagined ladies’ man. Debuted January 20, 1990.

- Ed Miles — Mike Myers as a nominal superhero in late middle age whose superpower is elder wisdom, solving young adults’ mundane problems. Miles’s sidekick is Drinking Buddy, played by Chris Farley. Each episode features a full theme song and Don Pardo announcing the title. Debuted April 21, 1990.
