Walter Lee Mingledorff Jr. (November 7, 1914 – February 18, 1985) was a Georgia politician and the mayor of Savannah. A Democrat from Savannah's Citizen's Committee faction, he came from the local shipyard industry and was married to Huldah Cail. In 1954 he ran for mayor and defeated Conservative Democratic candidate Charles Musante. He took office January 24, 1955, becoming Savannah's first mayor under a council-manager form of government, and the city charter reduced the number of aldermen from twelve to six. He was re-elected for a two-year term in 1956, began his second term January 21, 1957, and won a four-year term in 1958. His administration is credited with several accomplishments. Mingledorff resigned as mayor on August 1, 1960 to run for the Chatham County Commission. Vice-mayor Malcolm Maclean finished the remainder of his term, serving through October 1, 1962.
