Leddie Brown
Leddie Brown (born February 28, 1999) is an American football running back who has played at West Virginia and in the NFL and XFL. He helped the Arlington Renegades win the XFL Championship in 2023 and remained with the team into 2024.
Brown grew up in Philadelphia and attended Smyrna High School in Delaware before transferring to Saint John Neumann and Maria Goretti Catholic High School in Philadelphia for his senior year, where he rushed for 899 yards and 11 touchdowns. He then played college football at West Virginia University from 2018 to 2021.
At West Virginia, Brown appeared in multiple seasons. In 2018, he played 11 games with 91 rushing attempts for 446 yards and four touchdowns. In 2019, he appeared in 10 games (starting three), rushing 107 times for 367 yards and a touchdown. He became the team’s starter in 2020, finishing with 1,010 rushing yards on 199 carries and nine touchdowns. In 2021, he started all 12 games, posting 1,065 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns on 223 carries, along with 217 receiving yards on 36 receptions. He chose to return for his senior year in 2021 rather than enter the NFL draft.
Brown signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent on April 30, 2022, but was waived on August 30, 2022. He was drafted by the St. Louis BattleHawks of the XFL on November 17, 2022 and released on February 10, 2023. He then signed with the Arlington Renegades on March 17, 2023. In the XFL Championship on May 13, 2023, he contributed with a rushing and a receiving touchdown as the Renegades defeated the defending champions 35-26. He re-signed with Arlington on January 26, 2024, but was placed on injured reserve on May 22. He was released on January 30, 2025.
