Lauren Kozal
Lauren Rose Kozal is an American professional soccer goalkeeper who plays for GC Zurich in the Swiss Women's Super League. She was born in Ada, Michigan, in 2000 and is 5 feet 10 inches tall.
In high school at Forest Hills Northern, Kozal played soccer and basketball, serving as captain for both teams. She then played college soccer at Michigan State University from 2019 to 2022, appearing in 70 games as a goalkeeper. She earned Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year twice, was a 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, and made the All-Big Ten First Team.
Kozal also played for Midwest United FC in the USL W League in 2022, with eight appearances. In 2023 she was drafted by Portland Thorns FC with the 32nd pick in the NWSL Draft, signing a one-year contract with an option for another year. In September 2024 she was loaned to Tampa Bay Sun FC for the remainder of the NWSL season, and she debuted for the Sun on October 2, 2024, in a 3–0 win over DC Power FC.
In December 2024, the Thorns announced that Kozal’s contract had expired and she became a free agent. She had previously played for the United States at the under-23 level in 2023, earning two caps in friendlies against France.
In 2025, Kozal joined GC Zurich in Switzerland.
