Laroche-Saint-Cydroine
Laroche-Saint-Cydroine is a small commune in the Yonne department in north-central France, in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It covers about 18.95 square kilometers and has around 1,185 residents (2023).
The commune includes the village of Saint-Cydroine, named after Saint Sidronius. It is said that Sidronius was martyred there by the Romans, and a spring with healing powers once drew pilgrims in the Middle Ages.
The main church, Église Saint-Cydroine de Laroche-Saint-Cydroine, is a Romanesque building from the 11th or 12th century with an octagonal tower. It was founded by the abbey of La Charité-sur-Loire.
Laroche-Saint-Cydroine is in the Auxerre arrondissement and is served by the Laroche-Migennes railway station.
