Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev
Akperan Orshi Polytechnic, Yandev, is a public institution near Gboko in Benue State, Nigeria. It started in 1926 as a farm training center set up by the British colonial government in Yandev. In 1973, it was upgraded to a School of Agriculture with 23 students. In 1983, the Department of Agriculture from Murtala College of Arts, Science and Technology, Makurdi, joined the school. In April 1991, it was renamed Akperan Orshi College of Agriculture, Yandev, in honor of the Tiv king Dr. James Akperan Orshi. Today the college operates as a polytechnic with more than 2,000 students on a 231-hectare campus. The rector is Dr. Simon Iorchor, and the registrar is Mrs. Sende Francisca. The chief librarian is Mr. Tyosar Terdue Joseph.
The polytechnic offers programs across five faculties: Agricultural Management and Vocational Studies; Agricultural Production and Engineering Technology; Animal Technology; Basic Sciences and Foundation Studies; and Forestry and Fisheries Technology. It has a collaboration with NIHOTOUR to strengthen tourism professionalism and capacity by combining practical training with theoretical study. Website: https://aocay.edu.ng/
