Busan Foreign Language High School
Busan Foreign Language High School is a private, coed high school in Yeonsan-dong, Yeonsan-gu, Busan, South Korea. Founded in 1985, it emphasizes foreign language study and is led by principal Jongsun Lee (since 2017). The school’s motto is Think and act; continuous effort with great hope. It has about 62 teaching staff.
Each year ten freshmen receive scholarships across languages: two in French, two in German, three in Japanese, and three in Chinese. Enrolled students can compete for internal scholarships (also up to ten recipients) or external scholarships by recommendation; some grants are 1,000,000 won. The campus opened its current building in 1986; the first graduation was in 1988, and another expansion followed in 1989. It earned special-purpose high school status in 1991. Dr. Seungwan Han became chairman in 2015, and Jongsun Lee became the 10th principal in 2017. In 2019, the 32nd graduation saw 229 graduates and the 35th matriculation welcomed 237 new students, bringing the total number of graduates to about 13,600.
