Krakau is a municipality in the Murau district of Styria, Austria. It was created on January 1, 2015 by merging Krakaudorf, Krakauhintermühlen and Krakauschatten. The town sits on a high plateau in the southern Schladming Tauern, covers 123.45 square kilometers, and sits at 1,173 meters above sea level. As of January 1, 2018, about 1,419 people lived there. The municipal council has 15 members, and the mayor is Gerhard Stolz (ÖVP). The postal code is 8854, the area code is +43 3535, and vehicle registration is MU. Krakau’s website is www.krakau.at. It is located at about 47.1667° N, 14.0167° E.
