Kontraritam (album)
Kontraritam is the debut and only studio album by the Yugoslav band Kontraritam, released in 1982. The group, formed in Novi Sad in 1980, played new wave, ska and reggae. In spring 1981 they recorded songs at Radio Novi Sad with producer Aleksandar Pražić, which helped publicize the band. Beograd Disk could not schedule studio time, so they signed with Jugoton in Zagreb. The album was recorded in January 1982 at Meta Sound studio in Novi Sad, produced by guitarist and saxophonist Sreten "Sreta" Kovačević. The cover art was designed by Goran Vejvoda, and the lettering was done by Margita Stefanović, who would later become the keyboardist of Ekatarina Velika. All tracks were written by Kontraritam. The song "Srećne noge" became a hit, ranking third on Studio B Diskomer's top ten. "Žožo, vrati se" appeared on Jugoton's 1982 compilation Vrući dani i vrele noći. After the release, the band faced lineup changes due to mandatory military service, and when Kovačević went to the army in spring 1983, the band ended. Only three songs—"Srećne noge," "Slobodna devojka," and "Drugačija"—have appeared on CD on various compilations and box sets; the album itself has never been reissued on CD. The album runs 30:41 and was released on Jugoton (LSY 61671).
