Konjyosom Rural Municipality
Konjyosom Rural Municipality is a local government area in Lalitpur District, Bagmati Province, Nepal. It was established in March 2017 by merging the former village development committees Sankhu, Dalchoki, Chaughare, Nallu and Bhardev. The administrative center is Chaughare. The name Konjyosom comes from the Tamang language and refers to Gautama Buddha.
The municipality covers 44.16 square kilometers and had a population of 9,709 at the 2011 census, with a density of about 219.9 people per square kilometer. Leadership includes Chairperson Gopi Syangtan (Maoist Centre) and Vice Chairperson Mimma Lama.
Demographics (2011 census):
- Languages: Tamang 75.0%, Nepali 21.5%, Magar 1.5%, Pahari 1.3%, Newar 0.2%, others 0.5%.
- Ethnicity/Caste: Tamang 75.8%, Hill Brahmin 13.9%, Chhetri 2.8%, Magar 2.3%, Newar 2.2%, Pahari 1.4%, Kami 0.7%, Damai/Dholi 0.1%, Sunuwar 0.1%, others 0.6%.
- Religion: Buddhist 63.4%, Hindu 34.6%, Christian 1.8%, others 0.1%.
- Literacy: can read and write 59.0%, can only read 5.3%, can neither read nor write 35.3%.
