Las Vegas Lights FC
Las Vegas Lights FC is a professional soccer team in the USL Championship, based in Las Vegas, Nevada. The club was founded in 2017 and began play in 2018. Home games are at Cashman Field in downtown Las Vegas, which seats about 9,334 fans. The Lights are owned by a group led by former Major League Baseball star José Bautista.
The team uses neon Las Vegas imagery in its crest and jerseys and is known for playful promotions, such as llama mascots and rewarding players with casino chips. The Lights have aimed to be a fun, entertaining club that draws fans to the game.
Over the years the Lights have had several coaches, including Chelís, Eric Wynalda, and Dennis Sanchez, who was hired as head coach in January 2024. In 2021 they formed an affiliation with Los Angeles FC (LAFC), which carried into 2023 as LAFC 2 began competing in MLS Next Pro; the affiliation ended in 2023 as the reserve league structure changed. The team’s performance has varied, with a challenging 2023 season (4–22–10) and a 2025 season that saw them finish 12th in the Western Conference, not reaching the playoffs.
Cashman Field has been the Lights’ home since their inception, with a 15-year lease through 2032. The city sold the stadium in March 2025, and the Lights planned to remain through 2026 while looking for a new home. The team also played some 2023 games at Las Vegas Ballpark as part of venue changes and renovations to improve the soccer environment.
Las Vegas Lights’ fans are represented by the BLVD Locals supporters group, and the team has a noted rivalry with Reno 1868 FC, known as the Silver State Cup, which ended after Reno ceased operations in 2020. The club’s branding, admissions, and promotions—such as cash-drop stunts and pink scarf awards for community contributors—reflect its goal of being a fast, fun soccer party in Las Vegas.
Television, streaming, and radio help fans follow the Lights. Nationally, games are streamed on ESPN+, with some matches on CBS Sports Network in English and TUDN in Spanish; locally, many matches air on KVVU and the Silver State Sports & Entertainment Network (SSSEN). Spanish-language radio broadcasts are on 1460 AM ESPN Deportes.
