Komuko Kharin
Komuko Akari Kharin is a Nigerian engineer and politician who has served as Bayelsa State’s Commissioner for Power since 2024, under Governor Douye Diri. He comes from Ogbia Local Government Area in Bayelsa. Kharin studied Electrical Engineering at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and earned a Master’s degree in Energy Management from the University of Port Harcourt. He is registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
He has worked with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) and led electrification projects to expand electricity access in rural Bayelsa. He has also served as a consultant on power projects, including off-grid energy solutions in the Niger Delta.
As Commissioner for Power, Kharin focuses on improving power generation and distribution, supporting infrastructure projects, and coordinating efforts to boost electricity supply in Bayelsa. He has addressed power sector challenges such as vandalism of transmission lines by working with security agencies to protect infrastructure. He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
