Khaid
Khaid, born Sulaimon Shekoni Solomon on December 10, 2004, is a Nigerian singer, rapper and songwriter signed to Neville Records. He rose to fame with the song “With You” after signing with Neville Records in 2022. The track entered the Nigeria TurnTable Top 50 at number 48 on February 14, 2022.
He grew up in Shibiri-Ojo, Lagos, in a family of ten. He worked as a roadside mechanic to support his family and fund his music. He started making music on the streets of Ojo. A viral Instagram freestyle in 2021 caught the attention of Sydney Talker, who offered him a recording deal and publicly introduced him on January 20, 2022 as Neville Records’ first artist.
“With You” was released on January 28, 2022; its video was directed by Olu the Wave and had millions of views. On April 22, 2022 he released “SKI,” with a video directed by Sydney Talker. On May 27, 2022 he released his six-track debut EP, Diversity (stylized DIVERSITY). The collection was praised for its vibrant sounds.
In June 2022, Apple Music named him Up Next Artist for Nigeria. He appeared on Pulse Nigeria’s Future Sounds list. On November 9, 2022 he released “Amala” featuring Zlatan and Rexxie; the video was directed by Sydney Talker and the song appeared on charts in November.
In January 2023, “Jolie” entered the charts and was released for streaming on January 25, 2023. It earned praise from OkayAfrica. He was ranked No. 1 on TurnTable’s NXT Emerging Top Artistes on January 30, 2023. Spotify named him an emerging Nigerian artist on January 31, 2023. “Jolie” peaked at No. 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 on February 13, 2023. Davido commented on the track in February 2023, and TheCable listed it as a top radio pick.
Anabella video followed on July 24, 2023. In 2024 he released “Orobo,” which became a household favorite, and he teased a new song “Beku” on social media, which fans are excited about; the song is popular on TikTok.
Personal life: He converted from Islam to Christianity.
