Kevin Lim (sailor)
Kevin Lim Leong Keat (born 27 September 1976 in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia) is a former Malaysian sailor who competed in the Laser class. He is 1.83 m tall and weighed 80 kg. He trained mainly at the Woollahra Sailing Club in Sydney.
Lim won two silver medals at the Asian Games (Bangkok 1998 and Busan 2002) and became the first Malaysian to compete in four Summer Olympics (1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney, 2004 Athens, 2008 Beijing).
Olympic record:
- 1996 Atlanta: 38th in Laser
- 2000 Sydney: 22nd overall
- 2004 Athens: 24th
- 2008 Beijing: 15th in the silver fleet; started with a black-flag disqualification but finished 38th overall. He earned Beijing’s spot by finishing in the top ten at the Worlds in Terrigal, NSW, six months earlier.
In 2006 he was dropped from Malaysia’s elite athlete program, which led him to skip the 2007 Worlds and focus on becoming a doctor. He retired from sailing in late 2008.
