Karen Chau
Karen Kai-Lan Chau is an American artist best known for creating the Nickelodeon series Ni Hao, Kai-Lan in 2008. The show draws on her memories of growing up in a Chinese-American family. She spent part of her childhood in Plano, Texas, before her family moved to Los Angeles. Chau earned a degree in digital art from the University of California, Irvine, in 2000. Since 2004 she has worked as an artist, and in 2014 she became Disney's director of intellectual property development. Ni Hao, Kai-Lan was Emmy-nominated in 2010. Besides television, she is a painter and sculptor, with her 2D and 3D work first shown in New York City in 2010.
