Lance Inc.
Lance, Inc. is an American snack-food brand based in Charlotte, North Carolina. It began in 1913 when Philip Lance founded the Lance Cracker Company in Charlotte and later opened a manufacturing facility in 1926 at 310 Arlington Avenue.
In 2010, Lance announced a merger with Snyder's of Hanover. The combined company, Snyder's-Lance Inc., kept its Charlotte headquarters and continued to be publicly traded under the LNCE ticker. The deal created the second-largest snack-food company in the United States.
By 2018, Snyder's-Lance was owned by Campbell Soup Company. Lance crackers are often nicknamed “nabs,” a term that originated with Nabisco’s early 1920s packaging.
