Kans Quila, or Kans Kila, is a fortified castle in Mathura, India. It is thought to be the ruins of Kansa’s castle, first clearly described in the 18th century by Narahara Chakravarti. The walls have largely crumbled and the site has faced encroachment. The current fort was built by Man Singh I. An observatory was added by Sawai Jai Singh, but it has since been demolished. The fort was used by the Jats and Marathas, and under British rule it was neglected and partly demolished. Inside the fort is an audience hall with red sandstone pillars. It was also once used as a barrier against floods.
