Kadavathur
Kadavathur is a small village near Thalassery in Kannur district, Kerala, India. The name comes from Malayalam kadavu, meaning the bank of a river where there is no bridge, so people have used boats to cross in the past. A new bridge is planned to connect Kadavathur with Vadakara and Nadapuram, which would make travel easier and reduce the need for ferry boats.
The village lies along Kerala’s road network. The nearest major town is Thalassery, and the national highway passes through Thalassery, providing access to Goa and Mumbai to the north and Cochin (Kochi) and Thiruvananthapuram to the south. The road east of Iritty connects to Mysore and Bangalore.
The closest railway station is Thalassery on the Mangalore–Palakkad line, with trains to many parts of India. Airports nearby are in Mangalore, Kannur, and Calicut (Kozhikode); all handle international flights, with direct services mainly to Middle Eastern countries.
