Julie Adams
Julie Adams (born Betty May Adams; October 17, 1926 – February 3, 2019) was an American actress known for both film and television. She started her career in the late 1940s, initially billed as Julia Adams, but later preferred the name Julie Adams.
She appeared in several 1950s films, including Bend of the River (1952) opposite James Stewart. She is best remembered for the sci-fi horror classic Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), where she played Kay Lawrence.
On television, Adams had many guest roles and some notable parts. She played Eve Simpson on Murder, She Wrote and Paula Denning on the 1980s soap Capitol. She also co-starred with James Stewart on The Jimmy Stewart Show (1971–72).
Adams was married twice. Her first husband was Leonard Stern (1951–1953); they had no children. She then married actor-director Ray Danton (1954–1981), and they had two sons.
She died in Los Angeles, California, on February 3, 2019, at age 92.
Throughout her career, Adams received several honors, including a Golden Boot Award in 1999, induction into the Arkansas Entertainers Hall of Fame in 2000, and a CineCon Career Achievement Award in 2011. In 2012, she was honored with the Rondo Award for the Monster Kid Hall of Fame.
