1868 Peruvian general election
General elections were held in Peru in 1868. In the presidential race, José Balta won the presidency with about 82% of the electoral vote (3,168 votes). His main opponent, Manuel Costas Arce, received about 10% (384 votes). The president before the election was Pedro Diez Canseco, and Balta became president after the election.
