Journey to Infinity
Journey to Infinity (1951) is an American science fiction anthology edited by Martin Greenberg. It was published in hardback by Gnome Press, runs 381 pages, and features cover art by Edd Cartier. The stories are in English and originally appeared in Astounding SF, Amazing Stories, and Future Science Fiction.
Critical reception:
- Groff Conklin liked the idea of collecting possible pasts and futures for humanity but found the book uneven and not satisfying for serious science fiction fans. He felt twelve stories were not enough and criticized the absence of stories from Heinlein's Future History, Simak's City, or Lewis Padgett's Baldy.
- Villiers Gerson, writing in Astounding Science Fiction, said about half the stories were second-rate and chosen to fit a theme rather than for their own merit.
- The New York Times described the anthology as presenting the science-fictional History of Man.
