He spent his career with several clubs, including Málaga, Real Balompédica Linense, Zaragoza (and its B team), Valladolid, Hércules, and Nacional in Portugal. He was mainly a backup keeper, with his best La Liga season coming in 1995-96 for Zaragoza when he made 11 appearances and conceded 16 goals. That season he also played in two UEFA Cup Winners' Cup matches, helping Zaragoza reach the quarter-finals before losing to Deportivo de La Coruña. After retiring at 37, Belman became a goalkeeping coach. He spent two years with Real Madrid’s under-19 team, then returned to Nacional in 2010 and left in 2012 to join Santos Laguna in Mexico. In March 2017 he joined Rangers in Scotland as a goalkeeping coach, but left the club in October of the same year. His son, Javier Belman, is also a goalkeeper who trained with Real Madrid.
