John Seibel
John Seibel (born 1970) is a former American television news anchor and radio host. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1989 to 1991 with NORAD’s Early Warning Missile Defense at Falcon Air Force Station. He then served in the Hawaii Air National Guard from 1991 to 1994 in a communications mobility unit. While in Hawaii, he also worked as a television uplinker for Vision Accomplished.
He graduated in 1997 from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Telecommunication at Arizona State University, finishing with honors as the Outstanding Graduate. From 1997 to 2000 he worked at KIMO-TV in Anchorage, Alaska, as sports director. He won several awards there, including Alaska Broadcasters Association Goldies for Best Play-by-Play and Best Live Event all three years, plus Best Entertainment Program in 2000. He was also named NSSA's Sportscaster of the Year in 1997.
Seibel spent nine years at ESPN, anchoring ESPNews from 2000 to 2009 and taking on many roles on ESPN Radio. He was the weekend host of GameNight in 2002 before joining ESPN Radio full-time, where he hosted NFL on ESPN Radio, The Baseball Show, GameNight, The SportsBash, The Huddle with Mike Ditka, SportsNation, Football Tonight and Baseball Tonight. He also emceed ESPN/NFL Chalk Talk Luncheon Series in 2007 and 2008.
Seeking new challenges, he moved to Pittsburgh in January 2010 to host Seibel, Starkey and Miller on 93.7 The Fan, then left in December 2012. In January 2014, he became the morning co-anchor at WDTN in Dayton, Ohio, and added the evening co-anchor role in September 2021 after the retirement of Mark Allan. On September 13, 2024, Seibel left broadcasting to become the executive director of a nonprofit organization.
Seibel is from Englewood, Ohio. He and his wife Heather have three children born in 2007, 2009 and 2011. They met at ESPN, and their wedding was featured on TLC's A Wedding Story.
