Anita Sarko
Anita Sarko (c. 1947 – October 18, 2015) was an American DJ and music journalist. She grew up in Detroit, studied at the University of Arizona, and graduated from Michigan State University. She moved to New York City in 1979 and DJed in the VIP room at the Mudd Club, known for her eclectic music. She later spun at Danceteria (1983) and worked for Steve Rubell at the Palladium (1985) as the musical mainstay of the Mike Todd room. She wrote for Paper, Interview, and Playboy. Sarko died by suicide at age 68.
