John Lucaites
John Louis Lucaites (born 1952) is an American academic. He is a provost professor emeritus of rhetoric and public culture at Indiana University. In 2012, he was named associate dean for arts and humanities and undergraduate education at Indiana University. His research looks at how rhetoric relates to social theory and aims to critique and reshape liberalism in contemporary U.S. social, political, and cultural life. He earned a BA from Rutgers College in 1974, an MA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1975, and a PhD from the University of Iowa in 1984.
