Dorfmark
Dorfmark is a village in the Bad Fallingbostel municipality, in the Heidekreis district of Lower Saxony, Germany. It has about 3,469 residents and covers 15.48 square kilometers. The River Böhme flows through Dorfmark and joins the Aller between Hodenhagen and Rethem. Bronze Age burial mounds show early settlement, and the village was first mentioned around 968 as Thormarcon. In 1927–28 it merged with Westendorf, Fischendorf, Winkelhausen and Dorfmark. Since 1974 it has been part of Bad Fallingbostel; it used to be independent. The local economy includes crafts, farming and tourism. Dorfmark hosts one of Europe’s largest used-car centers, ALD AutoLeasing D, which sells about 10,000 former lease cars per year. It lies near the A7 motorway at exit 46. The B 440 starts there and runs to Rotenburg (Wümme). The L 163 runs north–south from Soltau to Bad Fallingbostel and crosses the B 440 in the village. Dorfmark has a station on the Heath Railway between Hanover and Soltau.
