Joanne Davies
Joanne Davies, born 10 September 1972, is a former English badminton player. She represented England 44 times and reached a world ranking of No. 8. Davies grew up in Grimsby and attended Whitgift School. She won team gold and individual silver at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. Davies represented Great Britain at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, and was 11 weeks pregnant during the competition. She married Dutch badminton player Jurgen van Leeuwen, and their son Ethan also plays badminton. In 1995 she was the English National doubles runner-up with Nichola Beck.
