Jessica Paz is an American sound designer from Brooklyn, New York. Active since 2007, she is best known for her Broadway work, including Hadestown, for which she became the first woman to win the Tony Award for Best Sound Design. She is currently on Broadway with Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre and touring the United States with A Beautiful Noise. Earlier in her career, she worked with director Susan Stroman on POTUS. Paz has also worked as a front-of-house engineer for groups like the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Antibalas, Femi Kuti, Lady A, and Candy Shop Boys, among others, and has served as an associate sound designer on productions such as Disaster!, Dear Evan Hansen, and Bandstand. She has taught sound design at Princeton University and advised on the university's production of Next To Normal. Paz is a member of professional groups including USITT, SoundGirls, Women's Audio Mission, TSDCA, and IATSE Local 829.
