Jennifer Greene is the pen name of Jill Alison Hart, an American novelist born in Michigan. She has written more than 85 romance and suspense novels since 1980. She has also published as Jeanne Grant and Jessica Massey, and uses Alison Hart as a business name for her writing.

Greene earned English and Psychology degrees from Michigan State University, where she received the Lantern Night Award for outstanding women graduates. Her first book appeared in 1980 under the name Jessica Massey; she published as Jeanne Grant from 1983 to 1987, and has used Jennifer Greene since 1986. She has won many awards, including induction into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame in 1998 and the Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award. Besides writing, she has worked as a teacher, counselor, and personal manager. She is married to L.J. Culby and lives near Benton Harbor, Michigan.
