Charny, Côte-d'Or
Charny is a small commune in eastern France, in the Côte-d'Or department of the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region. It covers 17.8 square kilometers and had 33 residents in 2023, making it a sparsely populated place. It is part of the Montbard arrondissement and the Semur-en-Auxois canton. The area lies at an elevation between 342 and 567 meters, with an average around 518 meters.
The INSEE code is 21147 and the postal code is 21350. The current mayor (2025–2026) is Franck Joseph. Charny observes Central European Time (UTC+1) and daylight saving time (UTC+2).
A notable moment in its history: on 16 September 1911, Edouard Nieuport, a racing pilot and airplane designer, died a day after an airplane accident while landing at the Military Aerodrome in Charny in bad weather.
