Jean-François Gilles Colson
Jean-François Gilles Colson (1733–1803) was a French painter. He was born in Dijon, the son of Jean-Baptiste Gilles. He studied with his father, Frère Imbert in Avignon, and Nonotte in Lyon. In Paris, the Duke of Bouillon kept him busy for forty years as an architect, sculptor, painter, and even gardener. He became known especially for his portraits and wrote several manuscripts on perspective, poetry, and the arts. He died in Paris in 1803.
