Jean-Baptiste Glaire (April 1, 1798 – February 25, 1879) was a French Catholic priest, Hebrew scholar, and biblical scholar. He was born in Bordeaux. After studying there, he went to the Saint-Sulpice seminary in Paris and studied Semitic languages at the Sorbonne. He was ordained in 1822 and began teaching Hebrew at Saint-Sulpice. In 1825 he became assistant to Abbé Chaunac de Lanzac, the Hebrew professor at the Sorbonne, and he took over as lecturer in 1831. He became professor of Sacred Scripture in 1836, was named dean of the faculty in 1841, and retired in 1851. He died at Issy, near Paris. His many works are now out of print and largely outdated.
