Je'Rod Cherry
Je'Rod LePatrick Cherry (born May 30, 1973) is a former NFL safety who played from 1996 to 2004. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, and attended Berkeley High School in California. Cherry played college football at the University of California, Berkeley (Cal) from 1992 to 1995, earning All-Pac-10 honorable mention and Pac-10 All-Academic honors. He earned a BA in political science in 1996 and an MA in education in 2000.
Drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the second round of the 1996 NFL draft (40th overall), Cherry also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles before joining the New England Patriots in 2001. He won three Super Bowls with the Patriots (XXXVI, XXXVIII, XXXIX) as a special-teams player. His NFL career totals include 131 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, and 4 passes defended.
After retiring in 2004, Cherry moved to Ohio and became a radio host and Browns game broadcaster. He has worked as a host on WKNR AM 850 in Cleveland and as a sideline analyst/reporter for the Cleveland Browns Radio Network, including joining the main game broadcast team in 2022.
Cherry is a devout Christian who attends Bible studies and volunteers with Heartland Community Church in Medina, Ohio. In 2008, he auctioned off his Super Bowl ring to raise more than $200,000 for charity; the ring later went to a collector in Canada.
