Jayme Dee
Jayme Dee Mackinga, known as Jayme Dee, is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Redondo Beach, California. Born December 10, 1991, she grew up singing in church; her mother was a vocal coach and violin teacher, and her father was a pastor. She had classical piano training and later found a guitar in her garage, which sparked her songwriting and singing.
She started on YouTube with acoustic covers while studying vocal performance at the University of Southern California, but left after one semester to pursue music full time. In 2012, she toured with Owl City and was signed by Republic Records. She recorded the song "Rules" for The Hunger Games soundtrack and released "Tip Toes" the same year. Her first EP, Broken Record, came out on July 30, 2013.
In March 2014, Dee parted ways with Republic and became an independent artist. Her musical influences include Amy Winehouse, John Mayer, Frank Sinatra, and Etta James. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, whom she married in December 2012, and they have a son born in 2013.
