Jakub Wierzchowski
Jakub Wierzchowski (born 15 April 1977 in Lublin, Poland) is a former professional football goalkeeper. He is 1.93 meters tall. His club career began at Lublinianka (1994–1997), then Górnik Łęczna (1997–1998). He moved to Wisła Kraków (1998–1999), making 3 league appearances, and then to Ruch Chorzów (1999–2001), where he played 55 games. In 2001 he joined Werder Bremen in Germany on a three-year contract for about 1 million DM; he played 3 Bundesliga matches and competed with Pascal Borel for the starting spot. After Bremen, he returned to Poland with Wisła Płock (2003–2006, 56 appearances), Zagłębie Sosnowiec (2006–2007, 3), Polonia Bytom (2007–2008, 0), and finished his career with Górnik Łęczna (2008–2012, 80). Internationally, Wierzchowski earned two caps for Poland between 2000 and 2002. He later worked as the goalkeeping coach at Górnik Łęczna from 2011 to 2013.
