John Walker Shill, known as Jack Shill, was a Canadian ice hockey forward born January 12, 1913, in Toronto. He played in the NHL for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, New York Americans, and Chicago Black Hawks from 1933 to 1939, with his pro career lasting until 1948. He won the Stanley Cup in 1938 with Chicago. In 1942, while with the Bruins, he was part of the "New Kid Line" with Don Gallinger and Bep Guidolin. He was a left winger who shot right, stood 5 feet 11 inches tall, and weighed 180 pounds. He wore sweater number 9 for Boston, number 1 for Toronto, and number 3 for Chicago. His nickname was "Snowball" due to premature balding. His brother Bill Shill also played in the NHL. He married Margaret Loreen Jeffrey, and they had a daughter, Joanne. After retiring from hockey, he worked for the City of Toronto. Jack Shill died on October 25, 1976, at age 63 and is buried at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto.
