Any Old Time (You're Lonely and Sad)
Any Old Time (You're Lonely and Sad) is the Foundations' third single, released in 1968. It was written by Tony Macaulay and John Macleod and produced by Macaulay, and it reached number 48 on the UK Singles Chart. It was the last Foundations single with Clem Curtis as lead singer; Colin Young would take over and help them score a bigger hit with Build Me Up Buttercup. The B-side, We Are Happy People, was written by trombone player Eric Allandale and became a top 10 hit in Scandinavia for the Swedish group Slam Creepers. The Foundations later re-recorded Any Old Time in stereo with Colin Young on vocals for their 1968 Marble Arch LP (MALS 1157). In the 1980s Clem Curtis and Alan Warner re-recorded the song as Clem Curtis and the Foundations.
