Independence is a studio album by Scottish singer Lulu, released on 22 February 1993. It was her first new material since 1982 and blends pop with electronic dance influences. The title track was a hit in Europe and on US dance charts, reaching UK No. 11 and US dance No. 3; critics described it as housey and anthem-like and one of the decade’s better dance-pop songs. The album peaked at No. 67 on the UK Albums Chart. Critics were mixed: Rolling Stone gave it three stars and called it a classy, good-hearted effort; Spin praised Lulu as a strong soul survivor; AllMusic said it wasn’t a bad album, just could have been better.

Three tracks are covers: "How 'Bout Us" (Champaign), "I'm Back for More" (Marlena Shaw), and "Rhythm of Romance" (Sheena Easton and Glen Goldsmith). "Let Me Wake Up in Your Arms" was produced by Maurice and Barry Gibb, Lulu’s ex-husband. "Restless Moods" was later recorded by its co-writer Ruby Turner. The album was produced by Errol Henry, Cary Bayle, Eliot Kennedy, Mike Ward, Ian Green, Nick Martinelli, and the Gibb brothers.
