Ike & Tina Turner's Kings of Rhythm Dance
Ike & Tina Turner’s Kings of Rhythm Dance is an instrumental album by the Kings of Rhythm, released in 1962 on Sue Records. It was recorded in 1961 in Hollywood, California, and produced by Ike Turner. The record features Ike Turner-led instrumentals with Tina Turner on the cover but not singing on the album. Most tracks were written by Ike Turner, except the duo’s Grammy-nominated single “It’s Gonna Work Out Fine.” The single “Prancing” was released in April 1962. Critics praised the album: Billboard called it a lively, danceable package of instrumentals with teen appeal, and AllMusic’s Richie Unterberger highlighted Ike Turner’s guitar work as a standout element. Notable tracks include “The Gulley,” “Potato Mash,” “Steel Guitar Rag,” and “Twistaroo.”
