Hyalobagrus flavus is a species of bagrid catfish found only in Indonesia. It is known from two areas: the Batang Hari river system in Sumatra and the Mentaya River basin in southern Borneo. The fish lives in brown, tea-colored waters connected to blackwater peat swamps. They swim in large shoals, often with other shoaling catfish such as Pseudeutropius brachypopterus and P. moolengurghae. The species was described in 1998 by Ng and Kottelat.
