Hugh of Brechin
Hugh (Middle Irish Áedh) was the bishop of Brechin in the early 13th century. His background is unclear: he may have come from Brechin’s native Gaelic church family, which included early bishops such as Léot and Samson, or he may have been a royal clerk appointed by the king. He is first known as bishop in 1214. Hugh died in 1218 and was succeeded by Gregory.
