Hugh Davidson (American football)
Hugh Calvin Davidson (January 19, 1928 – December 29, 2020) was an American football coach and scout. He was born in Grant, Nebraska, and played fullback for the Colorado Buffaloes, graduating in 1962.
Davidson began his coaching career at Osborne High School in Osborne, Kansas, where he coached football and basketball; his football teams went 16–1–1 in two seasons. He returned to Colorado in 1954 as the freshmen football coach. In 1958 he moved to the University of Montana as an assistant coach under Ray Jenkins. When Jenkins was fired after the 1963 season, Davidson became head coach of the Montana Grizzlies, serving from 1964 to 1966 and posting an 8–20 record.
He later coached as an assistant at Idaho State (1970–1971). In 1972 he began a scouting career with the Denver Broncos of the NFL. Davidson died on December 29, 2020, in Hamilton, Montana.
