Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is a Tibetan‑majority region in eastern Qinghai Province, China, bordering Gansu to the east. It covers about 18,000 square kilometers, and its administrative seat is Tongren County. In 2020, about 276,000 people lived there. The prefecture is divided into four county‑level divisions: one county‑level city, two counties, and one autonomous county. Huangnan is home to Rongwo Monastery, a Gelug Buddhist monastery founded around 1341 on the Rongwo River.
