LoveFrom
LoveFrom is an American design collective founded in 2019 by Jony Ive and based in San Francisco. It employs about 60 people and works across industrial design, graphic design, user interfaces, architecture, and more. The group is known for a minimalist brand and a logotype that features a trailing comma.
The studio has collaborated with a range of global brands and institutions. Apple was its first client and remained involved until 2022. Other partnerships include Airbnb for a multi-year redesign of core products and services, Ferrari and Exor for a multi-year program that includes designing Ferrari’s first electric car, and Moncler, whose LoveFrom collaboration launched a collection in 2024. Additional projects include the Make Something Wonderful book from the Steve Jobs Archive (2023), a limited-edition Linn Sondek LP12 turntable (2023), and royal initiatives such as the Terra Carta Seal for King Charles III and the Astra Carta project (2023). LoveFrom also redesigned Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day nose in 2023 and designed an auction stand for Christie’s. In 2025, they redesigned the logo and branding for William Stout Architectural Books in San Francisco on a pro bono basis.
In 2024, LoveFrom began collaborating with OpenAI on an artificial-intelligence hardware device. In 2025, OpenAI announced it would acquire the hardware startup io for about $6.5 billion; LoveFrom would work with OpenAI across its operations as a design partner while remaining independent. The merger was completed on July 9, 2025.
Other activities include a relocation-friendly footprint in San Francisco’s Jackson Square, with two Montgomery Street buildings being renovated into LoveFrom studios and a store planned to open in 2025. The studio also runs a charitable design scholarship program with the Royal College of Art, RISD, and California College of the Arts, funded by $1.5 million endowments at each school to support students from underrepresented backgrounds. LoveFrom’s work is driven by a philosophy of “joyful” making and a commitment to collaboration, experimentation, and excellence. Their mascot Montgomery, introduced in 2024 as an animated bear, embodies this brand identity.
