Honeymoon registry
A honeymoon registry is an online service that helps couples pay for their honeymoon. It started in the 1990s as extra help from travel agents, and some registries still work with a travel agency to book the trip. Today, many registries are independent and provide a customizable web page where couples share their wedding and honeymoon plans and invite guests to contribute gifts.
Couples can add photos and details to their registry, and guests visit the page to give money toward all or part of the honeymoon or toward specific activities.
Pros:
- Lets couples register for experiences that can be more memorable than material gifts
- Experiences can be more affordable, and giving toward a trip can be simpler than giving cash
Cons:
- Some people worry about asking for money
- Some registries charge service fees
Etiquette note: It’s generally considered appropriate to request a honeymoon gift. Large registry services now offer honeymoon options alongside traditional gifts.
