Honaloochie Boogie
Honaloochie Boogie is a song released as a single by Mott the Hoople from their 1973 album Mott. The B-side is "Rose." It came out on 25 May 1973 and was recorded in 1973. The track, a glam rock song lasting 2 minutes and 43 seconds, was released by Columbia Records. It was written and sung by Ian Hunter. In addition to the usual band lineup, the recording features Andy Mackay of Roxy Music on tenor sax, Bill Price on moog, and Paul Buckmaster on cello. Hunter later said he initially thought the song was inspired by the film That’ll Be the Day, but that wasn’t the case. The word "Honaloochie" is made up. The song reached No. 12 on the UK Singles Chart in July 1973. A cover version by Babylon Zoo was released as a promo single in France in 1999 and appeared on their album King Kong Groover.
