Hollywood Ending is the tenth episode of Agent Carter’s second season and serves as its premature finale. Peggy Carter confronts Whitney Frost and the dangerous Zero Matter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The episode was written by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (from a story by Chris Dingess) and directed by Jennifer Getzinger. Hayley Atwell stars as Peggy, with James D’Arcy, Enver Gjokaj, Wynn Everett, Reggie Austin, and Chad Michael Murray in supporting roles. Dominic Cooper guest stars as Howard Stark.

It first aired on ABC on March 1, 2016, and runs 42 minutes. The episode later streamed on Hulu (November 29, 2017) and became available on Disney+ at launch (November 12, 2019). In the United States, it was viewed by about 2.35 million people.

Plot summary: Frost absorbs the Zero Matter released from Jason Wilkes, but Peggy Carter and Howard Stark manage to escape. Jack Thompson discovers a file about Carter and a secret Council of Nine key. Joseph Manfredi worries about Frost’s growing obsession with opening another rift. He partners with Stark to distract Frost while Carter and Daniel Sousa photograph Frost’s blueprints. Stark and Wilkes then build their own machine. They open a new rift, Frost is drawn to it, and they use a gamma cannon to expel the Zero Matter from her into another dimension. Frost is left insane and placed in a mental asylum. Thompson gives Carter a secret key and convinces her to stay in Los Angeles with Sousa. Thompson heads back to New York but is shot in his hotel room, and the shooter takes the file on Carter.
