Gamma Data
Gamma Data (Chinese: 伽马数据; pinyin: jiāmǎ shùjù) is a private Chinese research institute in Beijing, part of Gamma New Media & Culture Co., Ltd., founded in 2010. It focuses on analytics for video games, movies and television.
The company publishes the China Videogame Industry Report, created with guidance from SARFT and sponsorship by the Game Publishers Association Publications Committee. This report is considered the most authoritative in China's gaming industry. Gamma Data also produces government-commissioned reports and market insights, which are often shown at the China Game Industry Annual Conference and the ChinaJoy Summit Forum, and are frequently cited in prospectuses and strategy announcements by Chinese gaming companies.
Beyond reporting, Gamma Data advises on project assessment, market analysis, mergers and acquisitions, and investment decisions, offering objective market research and data about these industries. It collaborates with local governments in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sichuan to produce regional market reports.
CNG Forum is a series of influential events organized by Gamma Data, focusing on investment in mainland China and attracting global investors. In June 2017, the Shanghai Game Elite Summit Forum, directed by the Shanghai authorities and hosted by Gamma Data with Guotai Junan Securities, highlighted Gamma Data’s role in the industry. In July 2017, a symposium themed “Revolution and Integration” was co-hosted by Gamma Data and Haitong Securities, where the 2017 Listed Chinese Gaming Company Competitiveness Report (A-share) was released. In April 2018, CNG Forum HK2018 was hosted by Gamma Data and co-organized by CITIC Securities and CLSA, bringing together many executives and professionals from gaming companies, financial institutions and media.
