Henry Kenny (Australian politician)
Henry Edward Kenny (1 March 1853 – 25 August 1899) was an Australian newspaper owner and politician in Western Australia. He served in the Legislative Assembly from 1897 to 1899, representing the newly created seat of North Murchison. Born in North Fremantle to Bridget and John Kenny, he moved to Geraldton by 1879, working first as a storekeeper and then as a draper. He later became involved in mining on the Murchison goldfields and rose to manage, then become chief proprietor of the Geraldton Express, the region’s main newspaper. Kenny was elected to parliament in 1897 and served until his death from stomach cancer in 1899, aged 46. He married Albina Tregonning (a widow, née Nicolay) in 1878, and they had two children.
