Henrikas Ciparis (born December 31, 1941, in Labardžiai) is a Lithuanian painter and theatre designer. He finished high school in 1960, served in the army, and studied art pedagogy at Vilnius Art Institute, then joined the Scenography Department. He graduated from the Lithuanian Institute of Fine Arts in 1969. In 1973 he began working at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre as an artist and became chief artist in 1983. From 1976 to 1982 he led the Scenography Department at the Art Institute. Ciparis has held about 20 solo exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, and designed costumes and sets for around 60 productions in Vilnius, Klaipėda, Erfurt and Kemerovo. Since 2001 he has contributed to summer performances at Trakai Castle for the LNOBT, including Pilėnai by Vytautas Klova (2001) and Lucia di Lammermoor by Donizetti (2002). He worked as the set designer for many LNOBT productions, collaborating with director E. Domarkas on Verdi's La Traviata, Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio, Gounod's Faust, and Klova's Pilėnai. Ciparis has been involved in more than 200 anniversary events and major concerts, such as song festivals in 1980 and 1985, and the 1988 Constituent Congress of the Movement.
